First Sighting
On the left is Broad Bean 'Martoc' head above ground, sown October 14th. A new type for me but it's been around for a while, Heritage Harvest Seed lists it as a medieval variety which cooks up from dry into a brown porridge.
And on the right, Chili Peppers 'de Rata' are still hanging on in the greenhouse.

What a lovely blog. I'm so happy to have found it. Diversity can be so sensual. Thanks

Greetings.
It really should be Martock, from the town in Somerset. I used to grow it for the HDRA, and I seem to recall that it was originally rescued from the Bishop of Bath and Wells' garden. A wonderful bean.
Interesting. And henceforth, looking at this bean will always conjure up an image of the Baby-Eating Bishop of Bath & Wells.
