It seems an unfortunate name for what probably is a pleasant apple.
I've just returned from the farmers' market where they had seven varieties which seemed like quite a choice in Toronto.
However, when measured against your list it seems a paltry display, and none had such wonderful names.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35875504.post-9080398092149043862007-10-23T09:29:00.000+00:002007-10-23T09:29:00.000+00:00Sorry if I gave that impression. The Allington Pippin is my own and I also grow Keswick Codlin, Ashmead's Kernel and William Crump in restricted forms as well as a nameless one which I've grafted from a twig appropriated from the neighbour's overhanging tree. One day I'd like to plant an orchard with apple varieties that all have animal names or names of other fruit or ...Misshathornhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11861177604834725742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35875504.post-44127955391778758872007-10-23T00:08:00.000+00:002007-10-23T00:08:00.000+00:00Damn! There I was in the supermarket on Sunday buying a weeks supply of perfect looking Cox's Orange Pippins,
and bemoaning the lack of seasonal variety (4). At least the Cox's had been produced within 30 miles of the supermarket, but that's more likely to be pure chance than a deliberate policy of buying locally by Sainsbury's.
You surely haven't grown all those varieties yourself, have you? If yes, then I'd imagine MustardPlaster acres had increased in size enormously....Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12359704294707762796noreply@blogger.com
